Save Kynnefjäll

Save Kynnefjäll’s guardhouse. Kynnefjäll is known for a long-standing local opposition to the disposal of nuclear waste in the area. The mountain was guarded around the clock for around 20 years during the 1980s and 1990s by the action group Save Kynnefjäll from a small cabin. According to the Guinness Book of Records, it is the longest protest action in the world in terms of time. The guard against the atomic waste lasted a total of 19 years, nine months and 17 days.

Kasebo at Kynnefjäll nature reserve

Kasebo is one of the few mountain farms that was still used well into the 20th century, located northeast of Vaktarekullen, is an important connection point for hiking on the Bohusleden and other hiking trails on Kynnefjäll. A gravel road leads here from the larger road at Söbbön (north of Hedekas). Nowadays, Kasebo forms part of the Kynnefjäll nature reserve.

Älgafallet

Älgafallet is located approximately 60 kilometers north of KynnefjällsNatur. You will find Älgafallet shortly after you cross the national border into Norway. Be sure to get up on the bridge that spans the fall. There you can be in two countries at the same time with one leg in each country.
