Save Kynnefjäll’s Watchman’s Cottage
Along the Bohusleden you will find the Watchman’s Cottage, approx. 13 minutes by car or 7km hike from our facility.
Kynnefjäll is known for a long-standing local opposition to the disposal of nuclear waste. The mountain was guarded around the clock for about 20 years during the 1980s and 1990s by the action group Save Kynnefjäll from a small cabin. The cottage is located on the southern part of the mountain. The cottage is, since it was moved across the road, protected and looked after by the association.
The Guinness Book of Records states that it is the longest protest action in the world in terms of time. The guard against the atomic waste lasted a total of 19 years, nine months and 17 days.
It is possible to get a guided tour up by the guardhouse. We also have a smaller exhibition that can be produced on request, please contact us for more information.
