In den 1980er und 1990er Jahren wurde der Berg rund um die Uhr von der Aktionsgruppe Save Kynnefj\u00e4ll von einer kleinen H\u00fctte aus bewacht. Die H\u00fctte liegt im s\u00fcdlichen Teil des Gebirges. Auf schwedischer Seite hei\u00dft der Ort Vassbotten, w\u00e4hrend er auf norwegischer Seite Holtet hei\u00dft. Die Stra\u00dfe, die hier die Grenze \u00fcberquert, verl\u00e4uft zwischen Halden in Norwegen und Munkedal in Schweden \u2013 auf norwegischer Seite hei\u00dft sie Riksv\u00e4g 22 und in Schweden hei\u00dft die Stra\u00dfe L\u00e4nsv\u00e4g 165 \u2013 aufgrund ihrer wundersch\u00f6nen Umgebung mit Seen oft auch die blaugr\u00fcne Stra\u00dfe genannt und W\u00e4lder.
